About Us

The Namkhyung Tendo Shabdek Tsokpa (The Namkha Khyung Dzong Society for Serving the
Buddhadharma and All Beings) was founded in Humla in 2023 by former monks of Namkha
Khyung Dzong Monastery from Tibet, Ladakh, Humla, Bajhang, Bajura, Mugu, and Acham
The society aims to support the dharma activities of Kyabje Pema Rigtsal Rinpoche and Namkha
Khyung Dzong Monastery and to further the wellbeing of the community and environment. To
this end, we strive to support the teaching and practice programmes of Kyabje Rinpoche in
Humla, Kathmandu, and elsewhere. We also work to promote unity amongst the monastic
alumni, to preserve our local language and culture, to care for the environment, and in
particular to preserve and promote the unique Buddhist culture of Humla and surrounding
areas. In addition, we assist, as and when needed, with education, healthcare, and naturaldisaster relief. Our holistic approach reflects a commitment to both the spiritual and practical
support of individuals, community, and the environment.See Activities for details of our past,
present, and future activities.
